About Me

Born in Scotland. Currently living in Streatham Hill, London.

In 1996 I sustained a back injury and was told by a chiropractor that I'd never run again. I ran my first marathon in April 2004, followed by my first triathlon, and I run every day. I ran two marathons and a triathlon in 2004 and three marathons and a triathlon in 2005, and a marathon in each of 2006 and 2007. My best marathon time is 03:47:39 – pretty good for someone who'd 'never run again'! Always seek a second opinion, and never give up hope – the human body has an extraordinary capacity for healing. I refer you to Dr Liz Miller for advice. My advice would be to not listen to chiropractors and go to a physiotherapist instead.

It's become a bit of a mission of mine to help other people with back and knee problems and to help healthier people get more from their running. I recommend you read Slow Burn by Stu Mittleman. Several people have taken me up on it and it's changed their lives for the better. If I can do it, so can you!

I also do a bit of Magic* and Scuba (PADI Advanced Open Water), and (lately) some skydiving.
